Baby Ethan's newborn photos were taken when he was 8 days new. Such a little handsome guy! Took a little bit of time to get him fully settled into being in the sleepy state, but once he got into that sleepy state he rocked it! Big brother wasn't all that excited about having his photo taken, but he warmed up to the camera after a little break and we were able to get some adorable photos of the two brothers and the family all together! New babies are always so exciting, crazy, hectic and amazing!

I recently look a friend's 2nd daughter's baby photos at 5 weeks of age. This little Abbey is just so adorable! A thick head of hair and big eyes! We got her into a few different outfits including a Seahawks outfit. Her big brother also joined in the photo session and I got a few with him and little sister. I was able to take a few nursing photos! I always love being able to take a few nursing photos, it is such a special bond between mother and child and I love being able to capture that fleeting time. This photo was taken in honor of her young cousin that past away at a young age and loved to wear purple converse. Love little babies, especially friend's little babies!
This week is World Breastfeeding week and I'm proud to share that so far I nursed my now 3.5 year old for 2.5 years and I've been nursing my 11 month old as well since birth. I've been nursing for almost 3.5 years! Woohoo! Now I want to give a little back story about my nursing journey with my 2 kids.Thankfully both my kids have taken to nursing and are champ nursers, we've had no major issue, just some over supply issues which was easier to handle the second time around. My first Melia, I nursed from birth to 2.5 years, ironically I decided to wean her and she had her last nursing session the day before world breastfeeding week last year. So while everyone was celebrating nursing their babies, I was mourning the decision to wean her, but I was also celebrating that decision too. Since I was pregnant with my 2nd nursing and while pregnant nursing had become a painful, horrible and hormonal task. Considering I always loved nursing her, even though we had the days of me being tired and touched out overall I loved nursing her, so to be hating nursing while pregnant was a new experience and not a happy one. Coupled with her skin issues and my distaste for nursing I decided to gentle wean her. It was a good decision for us and at times I was sad I didn't get the chance to tandem nurse, but then glad I didn't have to nurse a 2nd child. My 2nd nurser Emery, has had her own challenges! Unlike her sister she is not a boob baby and has been a very finicky and distracted nurser. While I don't mind at all nursing in public, this kid will not nurse in public unless she is super tired and super hungry and will finally give in to taking milk. Emery mostly only nurses before she sleeps, sometimes I can get in another nursing session between naps, but not all the time. I have to kick out big sister from the room, keep it quiet with her sleep sounds, dark and have her sleep sack on. She drives me crazy many days with nursing! When I was wanting to get a nursing photo of us, I really wasn't sure I was going to be able to pull it off! With the camera's timer noise and the extra light I had to bring into the room I wasn't sure if she would nurse long enough for me to get a photo. Well she did! Thankfully! For my photo I wanted to capture what our nursing sessions look like! While usually completely dark, to capture the photo I did have to open the curtains and let in come light. I did have to turn on the sound machine to help cancel out the timer noise and put her in her sleep sack(zipadee-zip). I mostly nurse her sitting on the bed and then she will either fall asleep in my arms nursing or I have to bounce her and then lay her down on the bed. In the background I do have a nursing session of Melia that was taken by a friend photographer Sherri O'Neil. Here is my nursing self portrait with my 2nd child. I've loved that I've been able to nurse both my girls and I love the nursing relationships I've had with both of them! May my 2nd nurse even longer! Happy world breastfeeding week! Month 4 of the 10 photos on the 10th of each month. I started participating in this photo project after following another local photographer friend Sara Arrigoni of The Blessed Everyday Photography through her 10-on-10 project. Well once again I had plans to go do a fun activity, going to the zoo with my sister, but once again my plans were canceled due to sickness! The girls and Bobby succumbed to Hand Food Mouth Disease, not a fun thing to have in the house hold! While the girls were all better, Bobby has had it the worst and I've been fearful I've been in the incubation period and will succumb any day. So I rescheduled our zoo trip for next week and stayed home. Since we were home again, I wasn't feeling very motivated with my camera, but I did at least capture one of Emery's faces that was on my list of things to capture (near the end). Maybe I'll do a redo next week for our zoo trip! Emery's best hour is the first hour after she wakes up. She is usually very happy and smiley, but when it gets close to nap time she doesn't get too happy. Even though I don't wear a lot of make up she still has seen me wear some and loves trying to put it one herself! Girl is growing too big too fast! Sister! These two are just so adorable together. Melia just loves her little sister so much, sometime more than what little sister likes! With all the nice sunny hot days we have been having in our spring time we've been having to water a lot. Melia does love to go and help water the fruits and veggie. We have a little park a few blocks from our house and lately we have been taking walks down there more often to play in the little park. While this photo is technically a big no no since she is in the sun spots, I just love Emery's little expression! I just love their little feet! This face was on my list of "to captures" I love this little face! It usually means she is getting annoyed, frustrated or starting to get upset and wants to be picked up. She squints her eyes, scrunches her nose and off centers her bottom teeth, it is adorable and makes you instantly go awe give a little chuckle and pick her up! And some evening play-doh play before bedtime. Melia suckered Bobby into playing with her even though he has been sick which is why he has the gloves on.
This is my 3rd month of the 10 photos (and a few more) on the 10th of each month. I started participating in this photo project after following another local photographer friend Sara Arrigoni of The Blessed Everyday Photography through her 10-on-10 project. This month wasn't suppose to be of our daily home life, I actually did have plans outside of the house but with the girls getting colds and me getting the worst of it I wasn't really feeling fully up to an almost 2 hr drive up to the Tulip Festival this year. I'm so bummed we weren't able to go, I've never been to the Tulip festival and I was really looking forward to going with my sisters, mom, aunt and two cousins. But I did try to make the most of our stuck at home day! Morning play time with daddy and My Little Ponies followed by me playing with the My Little Ponies Playing a game of Candyland as a family, but the game wasn't finished because Melia broke out in hysterical tears because she wanted the cupcake card which would put her back down at the beginning. Doing some gardening with daddy She is growing way too fast!! But I am loving how I can start telling her how to pose and she will do it once! I've got to be fast on the trigger to get her! And this has been one of my goals to get a few naked Emery butt photos! She is just so adorably squishy, I love it! A little bit of sisterly love. Thankfully no potty accidents! Melia chose all her own clothes and shoes. Daddy was mowing the lawn so we put her noise defending headphones on her, she gets a little sensitive to load noises and doesn't like them too much. Dinner time was steak and zucchini noodles for Melia and the center of the spiralized zucchini noodles for Emery. And finish off the evening with bath time for Melia.
This is my 2nd time participating in the 10 photos (and a few more) on the 10th of each month. I started participating in this photo project after following another local photographer friend Sara Arrigoni of The Blessed Everyday Photography through her 10-on-10 project. My day is very much surrounded by my girls. I haven't been very great at taking out my camera lately and capturing our daily lives, so I'm glad with this project to be able to do just that! Our day started of playing with some princesses, eating some breakfast and waiting for our friends to arrive to make some fun Easter crafts. Enjoying some yummy chocolate pudding with added probiotics. The girls making their little Easter crafts, painting eggs. And now little Priya will have a friend to interact with. Can't wait to see how these 2 grow together! Melia's final painted eggs I just love the funny little faces Emery makes! What a cute chuck she is!! These next 3 photos are the struggles we are facing with Melia. Nap time! Mostly doesn't happen anymore, occasionally some days it does and it usually has to be with me or if grandma comes over to help out (which was the case for this nap). Bath time. With her skin really acting up right now, bath time is painful and a struggle. And lastly her skin. After she got over her cold that she got on her birthday her skin has gotten bad and we haven't been able to get it under control. We will finally be going to a dermatologist to go the steroid route, which isn't what I really want to do, but her skin needs some relief! The hand photographed is actually the better of the 2, the other hand covered in a sock is worse. Both her feet are suffering as well but her left hand is the worst area on her body. And we will finish it off with the baby has discovered her toes!
I was able to take this little guy Reece's almost 7 month photos. He was such a great little one to photograph. He was so amazed and curious with the ground since this was his first time sitting on it and playing with it. I was also able to get some nursing photos of mom and son together. Nursing is very near and dear to my heart so I love being able to capture these special moments between mother and child. Photos were taken at Lake Wilderness Arboretum. I loved this session! These two were just too adorable!
A few years ago I participated in the photo project 52. A weekly photo prompt was given and each week a new photo was taken for 52 weeks (a whole year). I've been missing doing photo projects and with seeing another local photographer Sara Arrigoni of Blessed Everyday Photography doing this 10-on-10 I was intrigued. On the 10th of the month you take 10 photos throughout the day. This felt like a manageable photo project for me to do, so I did my first (and not my last) 10-on-10 photo project for this month. So here are my 10 photos, plus one, couldn't help myself. These were taken throughout my normal day with my 2 daughters. The morning started off early today at 6:30am when both girls decided to wake up shortly after daddy left. I had seen postings that there was this gorgeous sunrise, but being that we really don't have any good views of both sunrise and sunset I couldn't see anything and I also missed it. But I did get a little view of my daughter getting into the fridge all by herself to get her favorite snack, a spoon of sunflower seed butter. Melia loves to watch the garbage truck come by and pick up the garbage, she likes it even better when she can sit in the driveway and watch it come by. We went for a walk in the rain, we try to take walks daily. She is such a goof when I ask for a smile, this is what she gives me! Grandma came and visited with us today for a few hours. Gave me a break from holding the teething baby and also gave me a chance to do the dishes. I also do want to try to always do a self portrait with one of the 10 photos. I didn't get out the tripod this time, but I did get my reflection. With Emery teething she hasn't been napping the greatest, so while I was on the couching holding a sleeping Emery, Melia was watching Frozen and trying not to make too much noise. I don't really like the light in my house, but I found this light in the evening that I was really liking and having fun playing with. I took a lot of photos in this area playing round, but I only am showing a few. And here we have big sister trying to get little sister to "smile" for the camera. Yeah poor girl always has big sister climbing on her and giving her lots of love. My little photographer in the making. This is her own little camera for her own use. She is so adorable with it. I need to go through it one of these days and print off some of her photos she has taken. I give her no direction, this one she took after she saw me taking the photo. The photo of Mulan is my photo, I wasn't going to post it, but I decided I would. Getting some outside play time before dinner. Before bedtime, learning some science with daddy. Vinegar and baking soda can help to unclog a drain, unless drain is too clogged then pipes have to be removed. But an interesting way to end the evening and my 10-on -10 photo project.
I got to photograph 10 day new Eleanor. What a little cutie!! She definitely made me work for these sleepy photos, but she was so fun to work with. I got to use her woven wrap ring sling as a wonderful little blanket prop, I love to add the babywearing touch when possible to my sessions. And also got a few photos with big brother giving his adorable sister love.
I've been a bit quiet on here and haven't been updating much because of my little edition. Adding a second kid to the family has been challenging and wonderful.
Here are Emery's photos. The first set that are all in color are were taken with the help of another photographer friend Jennifer at Jenni B Photography I couldn't have gotten these photos without her help, little Emery made us work for these sleepy photos, the girl didn't want to go to sleep! Once again thanks Jennifer for helping me with Emery's newborn photos! |
