Anna and I had our first daughters 6 weeks apart, I had mine first and she birthed Saya 6 weeks later. For our first pregnancies we walked 2 times a week together and compared pregnancy notes, everything from the crazy stuff our bodies were doing to our wishes, hopes and fears for our first birthing experiences. Since I was first last time, I got to share every new thing first, this time around Anna's second was going to be first so this time she got to do and share how everything has been so different than the last time around. Our second daughters (mind you baby number 2's sex wasn't known until birth) will be around 19 weeks apart depending on when my little girl decides to make her appearance.
But on to the birth of baby Priya
Little Priya or Baby Kiwi (as she was known while in the belly) wanted to be very stubborn and decide she wasn't ready until just after 41 weeks, while big sister Saya was born at 40 weeks and 4 days, Baby Kiwi wasn't wanting to leave her comfortable home in mommy's belly. On Monday night I got a heads up text saying that the practice waves (bratxon hicks contractions) had been regular all day and to be prepared. At 5am I got a message saying that early labor had started and to be even more prepared for my call to come over. For me that meant getting my babysitting lined up for my daughter. At 9am I got my message to come over asap and things were progressing fast! Thankfully grandma only lives 15 minutes away and was able to come over and I headed out the door. Once I got there I went upstairs to the bedroom where the birthing tub was set and got my gear ready and starting taking pictures. I really got there in the nick of time pushing lasted for another 45 minutes after I arrived. I stayed on the outskirts and moved around getting different views, finding little details and capturing the whole birthing team.
Needless to say my morning was a busy, exciting and an amazing day! Welcome to the world Baby Priya, you've got a little friend coming in less than 20 weeks.
