The Beginning
I've always been the one in the family or group to bring the camera and click away to capture the fun times throughout the day. But I wanted to take my photography, knowledge and experience with the camera further. I ended up taking some wonderful fun continuing education classes at my local community college, Green River Community College in Auburn. As I was taking the classes I really came to enjoy learning how to take my photos from snapshots to photography. Learning what and how to make and get the shot has been an a fun experience. Over the years I'm still taking classes through an wonderful online learning website called CreativeLive and all sorts of other photography groups to continually expand, hone and refine my skills.
Just Me
I'm a local girl, I grew up in Maple Valley and graduated from Tahoma Senior High School in 2004. I'm the oldest of three girls which we all three look a lot a like. I met my husband playing soccer (greatest sport ever) and I've been married for 10 years. We got married on a very hot July day in front of my large family and all our friends at the wonderful Lake Wilderness Lodge (my favorite location to photograph). We have 2 little girls named Melia and Emery, both have been well photographed and blogged about. Melia is my sweet and sensitive little girl, while Emery is my very strong willing rambunctious child, both keep me very much on my toes running around everywhere.
Some other random things about me, my favorite flower is a rose, so typical I know but they are so classically beautiful. I also love to read, I love fantasy, sci-fi, urban fantasy both adult and young adult. My book collection consists of over 500 books and around 250 of them are signed by the authors. I'm a bit of a book lover.
My Camera
While my actual camera equipment isn't what makes my photos good, I am a Canon girl. Photography isn't about what camera and lens you have it is about the knowledge to use that gear. I've taken my time learning my camera, learning how to see light and use light to my advantage. I've learned how to use Lightroom and Photoshop to finish my photos to create the final art piece I see in my mind. I've dabbled in a lot of different genres and while I'm still refining and defining my niche and style I do know what I like the most. I love to photography individuals, seniors (girls and guys), children, women and while I haven't photographed older than high school guys/men, I would love to try it out. I like doing a mix of indoor moody style photography and outdoor photography.
